What is the Met Gala?
Every year a celebration is held in honour of the opening of the Metropolitan Museums (also known as The Met) fashion exhibit, at the Costume Institute in New York City. Not only one of the largest art museums in the United states, but the world. With more than two million pieces amongst its permanent works, it has been described as having some of the most significant art pieces.
The Met Gala has also been described as The Costume Institute Gala, Costume Institute ball, Met Ball

Essentially the night is filled with celebrities dressed to impress. The red carpet is always the biggest to the uninvited public. We say uninvited public, only as those with extremely deep pockets can afford to be seen here, plus Anna Wintour (Vogue editor in chief) heads up the benefit committee and guest list. In 2010, it was reported the top table was $250,000. In 2005 tickets ranged from $5,000 to $15,000
Conceived in 1948, fashion industry insiders have described the event hosted by Vogue, as the number one fashion event in the world. So if you’re a celebrity, here is definitely the place to be seen.
